State Police find illegal gun in M-32 crackdown

A Michigan State Police crackdown that targeted distracted drivers on the M-32 corridor between Bagley Street and Walter Street in Alpena on Tuesday netted multiple stops and citations, including one confiscation of an illegal weapon.

Heightened vigilance along the stretch of road is part of a year-long traffic initiative selected by the Alpena Post, which hopes to reduce crashes at that location by 10%.

The day-long safety push resulted in 20 traffic stops, six tickets, including one for texting while driving, 15 verbal warnings, and one gun seizure for carrying a concealed weapon.
