ALPENA — Nobody was hurt when a driver, navigating a busy Alpena intersection, crashed into a boat this afternoon.
A driver attempting to turn south on U.S.-23 from Golf Course Road in Alpena Township struck the boat-bearing trailer hitched to a passing pickup truck, causing extensive damage to both her car and the boat.
Bags of ice from a nearby store, loaded into plastic foam containers, were pressed into service as people unloaded fishing poles and other items from the boat before it was towed from the scene.
