ONAWAY — An Onaway teenager was killed Saturday when her van rolled off the roadway in a single-vehicle crash, police reported today.

The 17-year-old, whose name has not been released, and a 15-year-old female passenger, both from Onaway, were travelling north on Hoffmeyer Road near 5 Mile Highway in Presque Isle County when the driver lost control and veered off the roadway at about 8:30 p.m., causing the Ford Windstar she was driving to roll, police said in a written statement.

The passenger was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, although police indicate speed appears to be a factor.
