Kids compete in Science Olympiad

Young scientists analyze fibers in the “Crime Busters” lab at Science Olympiad Saturday at Alpena Community College. More than 200 students from 11 schools representing Alpena, Hillman, Rogers City, and communities as far as Mackinaw City and Tawas City gathered at ACC gathered for the event, held on the campus for the past 32 years, to display their science skills and vie for a berth in the state Science Olympiad championship in April.

The Alpena High School Science Olympiad team won the Regional Science Olympiad Tournament Saturday at Alpena Community College. Students earned first place in 21 out of 23 events. The team now advances to the state tournament April 25 at Michigan State University.
