Businesses which are exempt from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order need to provide employees of their choosing documentation declaring them essential.

The governor’s order called for the closing of non-essential businesses.

In a press release from the Alpena County Emergency Services office, local officials say critical infrastructure employees should be given letters in writing, electronic messages, or posted on a public website stating their need. Such designations can also be made orally until midnight March 31.
