ALPEN — The trial for former Alpena Public School teacher Heather Winfield, accused of a sexual relationship with a former student, has been postponed again.

Citing voluminous paperwork still to be reviewed by the defense, Judge Roy C. Hayes III in a hearing today in Alpena’s 26th Circuit Court rescheduled the trial to mid-April.

The trial had been set for late February.

The trial was also postponed in September, both sides requesting a delay because of the massive amount of data produced by the accompanying investigation.

Winfield has denied the allegations.

The News does not name victims of sexual assault.
