ALPENA — Whiteout conditions, accumulating snow, and slick roads are making travel dangerous along M-32 near Hillman as the National Weather Service warns of more wintry weather on the way.

The Weather Service says accumulating lake-effect snow showers are possible today in the western parts of Northeast Michigan, and lakeshore flooding is possible in Presque Isle County.

Heading into the weekend, the Weather Service is warning of freezing drizzle across Northeast Michigan Friday night and says a strong winter storm may pound the area.

There’s an 80% chance of snow and blustery winds on Saturday in Alpena.
