A Mount Morris resident was killed Friday when the side-by-side all-terrain vehicle he was driving slid into a ditch on Cousineau Road in Green Township in Alpena County.

William Lafeldt Jr. was ejected and the vehicle rolled on top of him.

A passenger was not injured and went for help when he was unable to lift the ATV. A nearby neighbor helped right the ATV and freed the driver. CPR by first responders was unable to revive Lafeldt, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and icy road conditions are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
