A 23-year-old Alpena man, Dustin Christopher Wirthwein, was charged this week in 88th District Court with one count of possession of a controlled substance, punishable by up to two years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine, and one count of operating while intoxicated-second offense, punishable by up to a year in jail and up to $1,000 in fines.
Wirthwein was arrested around 10 p.m. Dec. 4 when police pulled him over on U.S.-23 near Bloom Road in Alpena Township, the Michigan State Police said in a press release on Friday. Police found him possession of several Xanax pills for which he did not have a prescription.
His bond was set at $15,000 and he is due in court at 2 p.m. Monday for a probable cause conference.
