Alpena fire and police responded to a house fire on Miller Street Thursday night. Firefighters battled not only heavy smoke at the scene, but also a thick fog that blanketed the area. As firefighters battled the fire, there were several other fire trucks, including the aerial unit, parked a short distance away in case they were needed. Nobody was in the home when EMS arrived.
