A U.S. Postal Service mail truck sustained substantial damage when it was struck by a gray sedan Tuesday evening in downtown Alpena. The mail truck, headed southeast through an intersection on Park Place, was broadsided by the driver of the sedan, who failed to stop at a stop sign on northbound 1st Avenue, according to a witness. The blow crushed the mail truck’s passenger-side door. The driver of the mail truck was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena with unknown injuries.
