MSP investigating fatal crash

A 71-year-old Oscoda woman was killed when the car she was a passenger in was involved in a two car, head-on crash Saturday at about 3 p.m. on Hubbard Lake Road in Alcona County.

It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

According to the Michigan State Police the woman was in the car with her 82-year-old husband traveling southbound on Hubbard Lake Road when it was struck by a truck driven by a 49-year-old Spruce man heading northbound.

The results of a preliminary investigation indicates that the truck crossed the center line and hit the car head-on.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband and the driver of the truck were transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

Also responding to the scene were crash reconstructionists from the MSP 7th District, Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, Alcona County EMS and Hubbard Lake Fire Department.
