Former deputy not guilty in sex assault case
ATLANTA — A former sheriff’s deputy accused of sexual assault was found not guilty in Montmorency County today.
A jury deliberated for only 20 minutes before declaring Daniel Oelfke, formerly of the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Department, innocent of the charges of third degree criminal sexual assault.
Oelfke was accused of restraining a fellow county employee by the throat and assaulting her with his hand after the two of them had been talking and drinking in his truck.
