Three-peat Walmart thief gets a year

A man who admitted stealing more than $6,000 worth of merchandise from the Alpena Walmart in March was sentenced Monday to one year in jail and two years of probation.

Mathew Brown, 34, of Atlanta, was captured on security cameras leaving the store about 1:30 a.m. on March 22 and, on three separate trips on the same night, taking several objects from the electronics department by prying open the doors in the Garden Center.

Stolen items included three large-screen TVs, a drone, a cell phone, computer and video game components, a bicycle, and a flashlight.

Brown may go to a long-term drug and alcohol treatment facility after serving six months of his one-year sentence, the judge ruled.
