Alpena police and firefighters tend to the scene of a crash at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Ripley Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon, aided by a bucket of Scoop Away cat litter to absorb fluids that spilled on the street. The driver of a flatbed construction truck was cited after he drove through a red light while headed south on Ripley, colliding with a black Subaru headed east on 3rd. The Subaru’s driver was checked for injury and released. The driver of the construction truck, who was not injured, apologized to the other driver and asked if she was OK before driving away. The crash was the second at that intersection in recent weeks.
