Woman charged with OWI after hit-and-run by MSP post

A 50-year-old Lincoln woman involved in a Sept. 16 hit-and-run crash in front of the Michigan State Police Post-Alpena Post has been formally charged in the 88th District Court.

Debra Lynn Krentz was charged for her third operating while intoxicated offense, driving without a license, and failing to stop at the scene of the crash.

Police say a vehicle pulling out of the shopping center adjacent to the post struck a pickup driving in the left-turn lane, then fled the scene. Witnesses were able to describe the vehicle to police, and a sergeant driving home from the post located the vehicle parked in the Chippewa Point Gas Station in Spruce.

Police say the sergeant made contact with Krentz and an investigating trooper was called in to perform a sobriety test, which Krentz failed.
