Alpena celebrates 36th annual Antique Tractor and Steam Engine Club show

News Photo by Julie Riddle

A 1909 Robinson Steam Engine, fueled by wood and one of only five of its kind known to exist, takes the place of honor in a parade Sunday at the annual Alpena Antique Tractor and Steam Engine Club show. Exhibitors from around the state converged at the club’s showgrounds on French Road for the 36th annual event, which regularly draws 1,000-1,500 attendees, planners said. Craft vendors, demonstrators, and pulled pork sandwiches offered a pleasant atmosphere to the enthusiasts and curious visitors wandering the grounds Sunday, enjoying the perfect weather and a field full of historic, but still hard-working, machinery.
