A pedestrian purchases a glow-in-the-dark bracelet from an Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce representative Wednesday near Culligan Plaza in downtown Alpena. Sales of the bracelets, a fundraiser for the city’s July 4 fireworks show, were going well, the representative reported, with passing vehicles slowing to donate five dollars — and sometimes more. The Chamber is about $2,000 short of its goal of $22,500 and is making a push this week to get the final funds raised for the annual event sponsored entirely by private and business donations.
