Alpena’s fallen remembered in Lansing

Michigan State Police officers from the Alpena Post attend the 16th annual Fallen Trooper Memorial Service near Lansing on Monday. Inspector Mike Hahn and Commander Mike Caldwell of the MSP 7th District accompanied Troopers Daniel Hoffmand and Justin Clark and 1st Lt. John Grimshaw of the Alpena Post for the ceremony honoring the department’s 53 fallen troopers, which include Troopers Bryon Egelski and Larry L. Forreider, both of Alpena. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was keynote speaker for the ceremony, held at the MSP training center in Dimondale. Shown with MSP officers are Betty Thom, widow of Forreider, and Gloria Egelski, mother of Egelski.
