ROGERS CITY — The Presque Isle Board of Commissioners voted to spend thousands on improvements of the county courthouse annex parking lot.

The total for the updates is $22,215 and was included in this year’s budget.

“The asphalt is $14,250 from Goodrich Trucking and Asphalt Paving, $7,965 from Curtis Excavating for a grand total of $22,215,” Commissioner Lee Gapczynski said.

Commissioner Michael Darga noted they will use the money to fix potholes, the area around a manhole and they will try to figure out what has caused the damage.

County Clerk Anne Marie Main noted the approved bids were the only ones the county received for the project.

Also discussed at the meeting was where to put a new donation of $6,100 for the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center.

“The donation money has come in and the group would like to see the county match placed in the account,” Main said. “It will come from general fund.”

She noted the board needed to amend the budget to allow the transfer. This kind of transfer will also make it easier to track the money, noted County Treasurer Bridget LaLonde.

“If she sets it up the way she wants, it’s going to be very easy for everybody to realize that’s the money allocated for that project,” she said.

The board also watched a presentation by Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency.
