Friday’s edition of The Alpena News had a story about the death at a local manufacturing company earlier this week. The story told of what occurred, including efforts to save the man.

Unfortunately, the headline on the story stated the man was decapitated. He was not decapitated.

The man’s death was a tragedy for everyone who knew him — family, friends, coworkers and others and the headline added unnecessary grief for everyone.

The News apologizes for the mistake and offers its sympathy to the family.
