A 42-year-old Montmorency County man has been charged with the murder of his brother from an early morning incident at a residence in Briley Township.

The victim, identified as 46-year-old Brian Kinser, of Clarkston, appears to have been killed by his 42-year-old brother, Mark Kinser,

Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint for an incident at the home and when deputies arrived found the two individuals and took the suspect into custody. The investigation was then turned over the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post. Kinser was arraigned in 88th District Court Monday and Mark Kinser was denied bond and is lodged in the Montmorency County Jail. A preliminary examination is scheduled for May11.

MSP utilized detectives, troopers from the Alpena post and detectives from 7th District headquarters and the MSP crime lab was activated and processed the scene.

Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene as part of the investigation.
