PI board approves new software purchase
ROGERS CITY — The Presque Isle County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of new computer software for about $100,000 during a meeting Friday.
“Initially when we had to get the quotes done in February and we opted to pay for the appraisal option for equalization to get started, we paid for that knowing in the future we would have to look at this so we could get on their schedule to install. Since then I talked with building and zoning and the software they use is about 15 years old. They asked if they could be included. I asked for a quote to include that,” County Treasurer Bridget LaLonde said.
The first costs discussed was about $80,000. With the addition of building and zoning it went up to $100,815. LaLonde said the costs would cover three years worth of backup, sales study, all of the conversions, training and software packages.
The new software is called BS&A and would replace the Pontem software for the equalization, treasurer and building and zoning departments. LaLonde said the money should come out of the county reserve.
She said the estimate was created in a way so the costs wouldn’t exceed $100,815.
Commissioner Stephen Lang asked if the townships were on board. LaLonde said they were.
LaLonde asked if they could approve the purchase so they are able to be put on the company’s schedule.
“Is there a yearly maintenance fee?” Vice Chairman Schell said.
LaLonde said there was.
“It’s going to happen at some point anyhow,” Chairman Carl Altman said.
The board had a unanimous vote to purchase the software.
