Alcona fire death under investigation
GLENNIE — A fire that took the life of an unnamed individual in Glennie remains under investigation, according to a press release from the Alcona County Sheriff Department.
The remains of the victim, whose name is being withheld pending possible identification, were transported to the Saginaw Covenant Harrison Hospital for an autopsy after the May 1 fire.
The incident began, according to the release, at 3:30 a.m. on May 1 when firefighters from the Curtis Township and Mikado Township fire departments were dispatched to a structure fire at 3535 W. Aldrich Road in Curtis Township.
Firefighters were advised that neighbors were unsure if the homeowner made it out of the fire. Deputies arrived at scene and attempted to find the homeowner with no success. After the fire was suppressed human remains were found in the building.
No foul play is suspected, according to deputies, who were assisted by the Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit and K-9 unit.
