WASHINGTON (AP) — A new study finds the world is on track to add nearly two months of dangerously hot days each year by the end of the century. Poorer nations are expected to be hit hardest. Efforts to reduce emissions, like the Paris climate agreement, have helped. Without them, the researchers calculated that Earth would face 114 superhot days annually. The study, conducted by World Weather Attribution and Climate Central, used computer simulations to assess the impact of climate change on heat waves. It highlights the unequal effects of climate change, with smaller countries facing more extreme heat despite contributing less to carbon emissions.
