MIDLAND -- MyMichigan Health is investigating claims of data theft made by a group identifying itself as MetaEncryptor, a MyMichigan Health press release stated on Thursday.
"MyMichigan Health takes all cybersecurity concerns seriously and immediately initiated an investigation into the allegations" the release stated. "The organization has engaged Mandiant, an independent cybersecurity incident response firm, and is working with law enforcement to evaluate the claims."
"Protecting the privacy and security of our patients, employees, and communities remains a top priority," Pankaj Jandwani, MyMichigan Health system vice president and chief information, said in the release. "We take these allegations seriously and will continue to work with our cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement to evaluate the information available to us."
To date, the investigation has found no evidence of unauthorized access to MyMichigan Health's systems or compromise of patient information, according to the release. The group making the allegations has not provided supporting evidence, including sample files, to substantiate its claims.
"The investigation remains ongoing, and MyMichigan Health will continue to evaluate any credible new information," the release stated.
