June 29
5:21 a.m. A man states his son and a group of men are trying to attack him. A deputy found the individual and drove him home. He later called back saying the group was in town, then called again saying they left. He was picked up again and drove back home.
5:47 a.m. A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Albert Township. A report was made.
3:29 p.m. A woman caught a dog in her garage. A deputy picked up the dog and returned it to the shelter.
4:49 p.m. A box of beer bottles is reported causing a road hazard in Albert Township. A deputy responded and removed the box.
7:29 p.m. A vehicle in the ditch is reported in Hillman Township. Deputies responded and wrote the driver a citation.
8:00 p.m. A phone crash alert comes in from Albert Township. A deputy responds and finds a phone near the roadway. The owner of the phone picked up the phone from the office later that night.
10:04 p.m. A suspicious vehicle is reported in someone’s driveway in Vienna Township. Deputies responded and later determined the vehicle belonged to a resident’s coworker who carpooled with them to work.
11:30 p.m. A 911 hang-up call comes in from Hillman Township. The caller believes there are multiple people trying to attack him. Deputies responded and found the complaint unfounded.
June 30
12:13 a.m. A welfare check is requested in Albert Township. Deputies and EMS responded, and EMS took the subject to the hospital.
2:23 a.m. A deputy arrested an individual on warrants from an adjoining jurisdiction.
12:50 p.m. A civil standby is requested in Briley Township. A deputy spoke with both parties about the situation.
2:14 p.m. An individual says someone else is spreading lies about them. A deputy called the other person and advised them to stop.
2:58 p.m. A welfare check is requested in Hillman Township. A deputy responded but nobody was home, and it did not appear anyone had been home for some time. The reporting party later called back and advised contact had been made with the subject.
July 1
6:13 a.m. A welfare check was requested on a Hillman Township resident, deputies responded to the residence; contact was made and she was found to be fine.
12:49 – 13:56 – Severe weather went through Montmorency County, and we had multiple fire departments responding to trees on powerlines, and fires from those trees.
2:04 p.m. While on routine patrol in Albert Township a deputy was flagged down by a male subject with some concerns; during the investigation the subject was found to have a warrant with Montmorency County; he was advised and taken to MCSO to bond out.
7:50 p.m. A resident in Hillman Township had their carbon monoxide detector go off. Fire units responded
10:00 p.m. Deputies responded to a business in Briley Township after a male was reported to be intoxicated and causing a scene. The male was trespassed from the property.
10:27 p.m. A deputy responded to a commercial motion alarm in Briley Township. Upon arrival, the deputy found the front door unlocked. After searching the building, nobody was found and nothing appeared to be disturbed. The deputy cleared after securing the door.
July 2
1:10 a.m. Deputies responded to a residence in the Village of Hillman for a dispute. The male was reported to be intoxicated and disruptive. Deputies were able to make contact with the male at a different location and advised him to stay away from the residence for the night.
4:04 a.m. A resident in Hillman Township reported possibly seeing the powerlines on fire. The Hillman Fire Department responded to the scene but did not find any smoke or flames; PIE&G was notified.
4:59 a.m. The Montmorency County Road Commission was advised of several road blockages from trees and debris.
5:41 a.m. Multiple callers reported cars blocking oncoming traffic in Briley Township. A deputy responded and advised all vehicles to pull onto the shoulder of the road to allow the flow of traffic.
7:43 a.m. A resident in Albert Township had a pontoon wash up at his dock. The owner was found and contacted.
7:54 a.m. A 2 vehicle accident was reported in Briley Township; the accident was on private property. The drivers exchanged information.
3:24 p.m. A 2 vehicle accident was reported in Avery Township. MCSO deputies, MSP, Tri Township Fire, and Tri Township EMS all responded to the scene.
8:18 p.m. MSP conducted a traffic stop in Briley Township. One male subject was arrested and lodged at ACJ for OWI.
8:46 p.m. A resident found a dog and was unable to get in contact with the owners. A deputy took the dog to ECAS.
10:13 p.m. A female with MCSO warrants was pulled over in Alpena County and lodged at ACJ.
July 3
9:31 a.m. A caller states that he had a quad that a friend stored at the friend’s residence, and the quad is now gone. A deputy responded and determined that this was a civil issue.
10:31 a.m. A caller states that their break lines on their vehicle cut. A deputy responded and determined the line was broken, but it was unclear whether the line was cut.
5:17 p.m. Some pickup trucks are reported racing in Briley Township. Deputies responded but were unable to locate the vehicles.
7:10 p.m. A single ORV rollover accident is reported in Avery Township. Deputies and EMS responded, and the driver was taken to the hospital.
8:12 p.m. An ORV is reported passing people on the right side of the road in Montmorency Township. While doing so, a vehicle tries to ram the ORV. Deputies later spoke with the couple in the ORV, and they decided to move to a different campsite.
9:53 p.m. Fully-automatic gunfire is reported in Montmorency Township. Deputies responded, but the subjects had already stopped firing.
9:58 p.m. Some cows are reported in a roadway in Briley Township. A deputy and fire responded and blocked the roadway until the cows were returned to their pasture.
July 4
12:36 a.m. A 911 hang-up call comes in from Montmorency Township. After numerous failed attempts at contact, a deputy went to the residence and the residents were fine.
2:47 a.m. Deputies found a vehicle in a parking lot in Albert Township. After speaking with the owner, it was determined that the vehicle is okay where it is.
2:16 p.m. Rapid gunfire was reported in Albert Township. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the gunfire.
2:50 p.m. A capsized boat was found by DNR officers in Albert Township. The officers moved the boat to shore.
5:27 p.m. An ATV rollover accident is reported in Loud Township. Deputies, EMS, and fire responded, but the patients left and went to the hospital on their own.
6:09 p.m. A vehicle/ORV accident is reported in Montmorency Township. A deputy responded and a report was made.
10:55 p.m. A hit and run is reported in Briley Township. A deputy responded.
11:17 p.m. A pair of suspicious people are reported in Albert Township. A deputy and DNR officer responded, but the individuals were just having an argument and went to bed for the night.
11:41 p.m. An ORV tearing up the road is reported in Briley Township. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the ORV.
11:52 p.m. Repeated gunfire is reported in Albert Township. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the gunfire.
July 5
12:31 a.m. A dispute between residents is reported in Albert Township. Deputies responded and separated the parties until morning.
5:44 p.m. Someone reports that they are being threatened by another individual in Hillman Township. Deputies responded, but the subject was gone before they arrived.
