Fish cleaning station opens
ALPENA – The fish cleaning station at the City Marina opened at 3 p.m. on Thursday, according to a City of Alpena press release.
The facility will be open 24 hours unless otherwise noted on the door. The city asks users to be respectful to others and to help keep the facility clean and operational. If freezing temperatures occur, the facility may be closed periodically.
Anglers are reminded that there is no parallel parking in front of the fish cleaning station and to follow the instructions when using the facility, according to the release. Grinders should be shut off as soon as visitors start cleaning fish to give the drains and grinders a chance to clear out. Users should let the grinders run until they shut themselves off. The red shut-off buttons are for emergencies only.
When finished, the city asks anglers to remove any garbage and clean up behind themselves. Report violations to Kevin Fisher at 989-354-1734 or kevinf@alpena.mi.us.
