Resident evacuated in Maple Ridge Township

On Saturday, at approximately 9 a.m. the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on Circle Drive in Maple Ridge Township, Alpena County, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release on Saturday.

The resident contacted Alpena County Central Dispatch and requested assistance being evacuated from her residence due to rising water levels. Deputies responded with a flat bottom patrol boat and were able to assist the resident and her dog. The resident was turned over to the care of a family member. Deputies observed water levels up to three feet deep crossing the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents if they encounter water crossing roadways, do not attempt driving through it and find an alternate route.
