ALPENA — The Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce announced on Friday in a press release that it is leading the fundraising campaign for Alpena’s annual Independence Day Fireworks show.
This year’s celebration will take place on Friday, July 3. As 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, the chamber invites community members to kick off the holiday weekend by celebrating this historic milestone with Alpena’s annual fireworks show. The display will be presented by Small Town Saturday Night Fireworks. The fireworks will be launched at dusk from a barge/pontoon in Thunder Bay on Lake Huron, directly in front of Blair Street Pier, weather permitting.
“We’re excited to bring another amazing community event to Alpena–and with your support, we can make it happen!” the chamber stated in the release.
To help fund this year’s show, the chamber is seeking 50 businesses, organizations, or individuals to contribute $500 or more. The chamber stated that reaching this goal will allow the chamber to raise the $25,000 needed for the event.
“We’re excited to share that the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office has stepped up with the first $500 donation–and they’re challenging all local businesses and organizations to match or exceed their contribution,” the release stated.
Donations of any amount are welcomed and deeply appreciated.
“Independence Day weekend is a truly special time here in Alpena and kicking off the long holiday with an awe‒inspiring fireworks show is one of the traditions that makes our community shine,” the chamber said in the release. “Your support helps ensure that we can deliver a show that brings families, friends, and neighbors together along the shores of Thunder Bay. Please help us make the 2026 Fireworks Show one to remember!”
Donations are accepted via cash, credit card, or check. The chamber asks that checks are made out to the Alpena Chamber.
