Ice storm tree and brush debris pick-up
File art
ALPENA – Beginning Monday, March 30, 2026, citizens may begin placing ice storm brush between the sidewalk and curb line. All debris must be placed by April 13, 2026, at
7 a.m. when Public Works Staff will begin the collection of brush.
Staff will perform the collection area by area, and will not return to an area if additional brush is placed by the curb after April 13. For this pickup period only, the City will be collecting brush from all residential and commercial properties across the City.
Residents are reminded that this pick-up is for storm damage only. Additional spring trimmings should not be included as the standard pickups in late May and June are still planned for later this year.
All brush should be stacked with the cut end facing the street and please ensure that the ends of the branches are not sticking out into the roadway.
Public Works staff will leave any logs too big for the chippers to be collected later. Homeowners who wish to keep this wood may do so by removing it from the curb
line and placing it appropriately on their private property.
Please be patient as the cleanup process will be completed over the next several weeks. We are targeting May 1 as a finish date, but will publish additional information if it is extended.
Please call the DPW service line at 989.354.1780 if you should have any questions or concerns.
The City of Alpena is not currently offering drop-off service for this material.
