Evacuation ongoing, two people injured in Alpena explosion

ALPENA — The area around Clerk Street and Merchant Street Street in Alpena is still under an evacuation due to a gas leak that caused an explosion earlier today that destroyed a home. According to Alpena Fire Chief Andy Marceau DTE Energy is still on the scene, but the leaking gas is still not contained.
Also, Marceau said two people were injured in the explosion. One man suffered serious burns and was transferred out of Alpena for further care, while a second man is being treated at MyMichigan Medical Center in Alpena.
