ALPENA — According to an Alpena Charter Township press release on Thursday, South North Street is the only area in the Charter Township of Alpena that was affected by a boil water advisory that was issued Wednesday night.

The release stated that the watermain break in the City of Alpena did not affect the vast majority of Charter Township of Alpena homes and businesses.

At the time of the release, the Charter Township of Alpena Water Department staff were in contact with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) regarding the situation and have been following EGLE guidance regarding boil water advisory protocols.
