Maritime Heritage Center to show Great Lakes Now episode

On Feb.28 and March 1, people can watch “Sorting Fish and a Breakaway Buoy,” the latest episode of Great Lakes Now from Detroit PBS.

During this episode of Great Lakes Now, explore a project on a Michigan river that keeps undesirable fish away. Then the show will take viewers on a canoe out onto the Au Sable River to harvest wild rice. Plus, see what a drifting buoy revealed about winter on the lakes.

The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

The last weekend of every month is a “Great Lakes Now weekend” where the Lakes Maritime Heritage Center shows the latest episode from Great Lakes Now, a product of Detroit PBS.

This is a free event that is open to all.

The episode will play in the theater all weekend while the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center is open. The center is always free of admission and offers 10,000 square feet of exhibit space to explore.
