ALPENA — Maple Ridge Township Supervisor John Male, 72, failed to appear in court on Tuesday in the 88th District Court in Alpena.
As a result, Judge Alan Curtis issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
Male is charged with one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, one count of open intoxicants in a vehicle, one count of disorderly person drunk and causing a public disturbance, and one count of trespassing for an incident that occurred on Aug. 23.
A person found guilty of being a disorderly person is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or a fine of not more than $500, or both.
A person found guilty of trespassing is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 30 days or by a fine of not more than $250, or both.
He had an additional charge of trespassing added for an incident that occurred on June 20, the News previously reported.
Male was set to appear for a status conference at 11 a.m. on Tuesday for those charges. It was around 11:30 a.m. when Judge Curtis called Male’s case and Male was not present.
Defense Counsel Dave Funk said at Male’s last hearing on Jan. 13 that he was not able to settle the first four charges at the time.
On the single trespassing charge, Funk said he had complete discovery, meaning he had received all the evidence from the prosecutor relating to that charge.
It was not stated when Male’s next hearing will be.
