Hillman Community Schools donates easement for Hillman’s well project

Hillman — The Hillman Community School Board of Education announced the board approved the donation of the necessary easements to the Village to support the construction of a new municipal well and a well house on the district’s property.

The board’s action included the approval of the highway easement and donation of the associated easement cost back to the project, affirming the district’s commitment to improving water reliability and quality for the community

During the meeting, project representatives outlined that:

– The well house footprint has been modestly increased to allow adequate access.

and site aesthetics; the structure will be color-matched to the school buildings.

– Water lines will be installed underground at a depth of approximately six feet; once complete, only two wellheads and the small pump house will be visible.

Field access and use are expected to continue as normal, with any maintenance work restoring surfaces after service needs.

– The Village will assume liability for the well site and implement appropriate site security measures; the route will not become a public driveway.

“The overall goal for the community is to increase the quality of water,” project representatives noted in discussion with the board. Following deliberation, the board

approved the easements and elected to donate the easement compensation back to the village’s project to help advance the timeline for summer work and to support the Hillman community.”
