On Wednesday, Alpena High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department will hold a CTE and Industry Expo from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the high school.

The event is an open house format and all who are interested in attending are welcome. Enrollment in CTE programs is open to students in Alcona, Atlanta and Hillman as well as high school students attending AHS and ACES. This is a chance for students, parents and the community to see demonstrations by our current students, tour the top notch facilities, learn about the program offerings and meet and discuss career opportunities with professionals currently employed in related fields. There will be area employers on hand to meet with students and families about careers utilizing the skills learned in AHS CTE programs. Alpena High School offers 11 high quality, career focused pathways for students to choose from: Business and Digital Media Technology, Health Care Occupations, Welding, Marketing, Automotive and Construction Technology,Teacher Academy, Mechatronics, Drafting and CAD Technology, Agriscience/Natural Resources, and Woodworking.

“We prepare students for great careers with openings in and around our area and across the country. Our students graduating from our CTE programs are career and college ready!” said APS Director of Communications Lee Fitzpatrick. “We welcome parents, students and the community to come and see the new CTE programs, facilities and student demonstrations at Alpena High School, it’s not what people may remember from their time in school.”
