ROGERS CITY — Theodore Beck, 65, was arraigned in the 89th District Court on Tuesday on three new charges of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct force/coercion.
Beck has already been charged with four counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC). He is currently on the docket in the 53rd Circuit Court for those charges.
In May, The News reported that the MSP Alpena Post was contacted regarding an alleged sexual assault complaint against Beck. The alleged assaults were reported to have occurred in Rogers City over a span of several months.
The News does not not use the names of victims of sexual assault.
The News reported in June that Beck was seen in Presque Isle County’s 89th district court for a pre-trial hearing regarding the charges against him. During that hearing, Beck’s attorney, Matt Wojda, informed Judge Michael Ekdahl that there were ongoing discovery issues and asked for the preliminary examination to be adjourned until July.
Following the hearing in June, Beck waived his preliminary examination in the 89th District Court in Presque Isle. Afterwards, his case was bound over to the 53rd Circuit Court.
At an Aug. 11 hearing in Circuit Court, it was stated that Beck allegedly violated his bond by coming into contact with the complaining witness. The hearing on that bond violation has been continued since.
At Tuesday’s arraignment, Ekdahl entered a not guilty plea on Beck’s behalf. Beck waived his right to a preliminary examination within 21 days of arraignment, due to scheduling conflicts on the part of his Attorney Matt Wojda.
Beck’s next hearing on the three new charges is at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 24 in the 89th District Court. His preliminary examination is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on March 17.
