ALPENA — Alpena Public Schools will hold the following kindergarten registration events for the coming school year. All are from 5 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.

These events are a way to kick off a great kindergarten experience at APS. Each event includes a signing day photo opportunity, a tour of school facilities, a free school readiness bag and there will be light refreshments available.

The first event will be at Lincoln Elementary School on Jan.22 and there will be one at Wilson Elementary School on Jan.29. Besser School will have a registration event on Feb 5 and on Feb. 11, there will be one at Ella White and Hinks schools.

There will also be one at Sanborn School on Feb. 12.

Families can attend any event and students will be enrolled in their area school based on their permanent address.

There are also additional Dates at APS Central Office. There is one on April 10 from 8 a.m. until noon and on May 8 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Required Documents for Registration:

– Legal Birth Certificate – from the courthouse

– Proof of Parent/Guardian Residency – driver’s license/utility bill/rent or mortgage receipt

– Immunization record or proof of waiver from Health Dept.

Requirements to Attend Kindergarten:

– Vision and dental screening must be completed after March 1 and free screening events take place at APS central office on April 10 from 8 a.m. until noon and on May 5 from 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Students must be five-years old on or before Jan. 1 2026; or a waiver is required if birthdate is after Sept. 1.
