ATLANTA – On Jan. 21, troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post responded to a residence in Avery Township for an alleged domestic violence incident.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect, a 22-year-old male from Atlanta, allegedly physically assaulted the victim following an argument. Additional assaultive behavior was also reported. The man left the scene prior to troopers arrival, but was later arrested and lodged at the Alpena County Jail. He was charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder/strangulation.

He was arraigned in the 88th District Court in Montmorency County on Jan 23. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m.
