ALPENA – According to a MyMichigan Health press release on Friday, the Lost Lake Woods Club of Lincoln recently held its annual “Chair-ity” silent auction. This year’s fundraiser successfully raised over $500 for the Breast Health Fund at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
“What makes the ‘Chair-ity’ auction so distinctive is the artistry behind each item,” the release states. “Club members use their time and talents to transform ordinary chairs, furniture, and household objects into whimsical, one-of-a-kind works of art. Painted, decorated, and reimagined, these creations became unique home décor treasures.”
Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, auction items were displayed across the county, inviting bids from supporters to contribute to a cause “that touches so many lives,” the release states.
According to MyMichigan Health, Ann Diamond, MyMichigan Health Foundation director, expressed her gratitude for the club’s ongoing commitment.
“Over the years, Lost Lake Woods Club has become a special partner of MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, regularly supporting the Breast Health Fund” Diamond said in the release. “Everyone who helped make this event possible has been extremely generous with their time, talent, and money. We are all so grateful for those who helped make the ‘Chair-ity’ auction a success once again, especially Paulette Kallstrom, who led the effort.”
The funds raised will benefit the Breast Health Fund, which plays a role in supporting breast cancer prevention, early detection, and patient care, according to MyMichigan Health. Funds support financial assistance for individuals who need help covering the costs of screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, MRIs, biopsies, and other medical fees.
“Beyond testing, the fund also provides essential support items for patients recovering from surgery and even transportation assistance to ensure that care is accessible to all who need it,” the release also states.
MyMichigan Health explains in the release that the “creativity and compassion” that Lost Lake Woods Club employed “once again demonstrated how a community can make a meaningful difference.”
“The ‘Chair-ity’ auction not only raised funds but also raised awareness, reminding everyone that behind each painted chair or decorated item lies a story of hope, resilience, and the power of coming together for a shared cause,” MyMichigan Health adds in the release.
