Alpena officials remind residents to clear snow from sidewalks
Officials in Alpena are reminding residents and business owners that there is a city ordinance that requires prompt removal of snow from sidewalks that border their property and that snow shall not be deposited into the right of way.
The city released the reminder in a press release on Tuesday.
If snow is not removed within 48 hours of a snow event, the city will work with residents to resolve snow removal concerns by knocking on doors or leaving a door hanger.
If snow is not removed after an additional 48-hour time period, the city will remove the snow with expenses billed to the property owner.
Keeping sidewalks clear helps everyone reach their destination safely, the press release says. If people have concerns about a particular area, please contact city hall.
