Alpena County CodeRED accounts not compromised in cyberattack

According to a press release on Saturday, Kim Elkie, director of the Alpena County Office of Emergency Management and E911 Services, confirmed that no Alpena County CodeRED accounts or data was compromised in a recent cyberattack that targeted CodeRED’s legacy notification platform.

“We want to assure our community that Alpena County’s CodeRED account is hosted on a separate platform and is not affiliated with the legacy system that was affected,” Elkie said in the release.

“No Alpena County or Central Dispatch systems were involved in or affected by this incident,” Elkie added. “This matter is isolated solely to CodeRED’s legacy platform.”

Elkie stated in the release that Alpena County, and other Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the country, partners with CodeRED to provide critical emergency and community notifications to residents.
