News Photo by Reagan Voetberg Troy Wardlaw appeared via Zoom from the Alpena County Jail on Wednesday for his arraignment hearing in the 88th District Court in Alpena.

ALPENA — Troy Wardlaw, 56, was arraigned on one charge of possession with intent to deliver 50 to 450 grams of cocaine on Wednesday in the 88th District Court in Alpena.

Wardlaw allegedly possessed 425 grams of crack cocaine and over $2,000 cash when he was arrested. That amount, 425 grams, is approximately one pound of cocaine.

Wardlaw was arrested Sunday and follow up search warrants were conducted on Monday where firearms and drugs were seized, Huron Undercover Narcotics Team Commander Lt. Ray Rollet said in a phone conversation. Rollet confirmed that the searches on the north side of Alpena on Monday were connected to those search warrants.

Rollet said this was a major drug bust and possibly the largest cocaine bust that has happened in Alpena.

Wardlaw was given a $50,000 cash or surety bond by Judge Alan Curtis. If found guilty, Wardlaw could face imprisonment for not more than 20 years or a fine of not more than $250,000, or both.

Prosecuting Attorney Cynthia Muszynski said that allegedly Wardlaw has made a lot of money off the addicts in the community.

Wardlaw is expected to apply for a court-appointed attorney. His next hearing is a probable cause conference scheduled for 2 p.m on Oct. 8. His preliminary examination is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
