State Police posts participate in Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 25
The Michigan State Police (MSP) is once again taking part in a national initiative that encourages residents to safely dispose of expired and unused prescription pills, according to a press release on Friday. All of MSP’s 31 posts will open their doors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 to accept unwanted medications as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
“Proper disposal of unused or expired prescription medication helps prevent misuse, protects the environment, and keeps our communities safe,” Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP, said in the release. “Taking a few minutes to clear out your medicine cabinet and properly dispose of expired and unused pills can make a real difference in preventing prescription drug abuse.”
All collected pills will be destroyed, no questions asked. Liquids, inhalers, patches, and syringes will not be accepted. To find a collection site near you, visit Michigan.gov/MSPPosts.
Anyone unable to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day can anonymously surrender prescription drugs at any MSP post, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
