MyMichigan Health Earned Wage Access program

MyMichigan Health announced in a press release on Monday, its employees will soon have access to a new benefit called the Earned Wage Access program.

According to the release, the program allows employees to access a portion of their earned pay before the traditional payday. This benefit is designed to assist employees in managing everyday expenses or unexpected costs without being restricted by the bi-weekly pay cycle.

MyMichigan states that the benefit will launch on Wednesday.

“We know that at any given time changes can occur that could have a very real impact on our day-to-day lives. The addition of Earned Wage Access to our suite of benefits reinforces our dedication to supporting our employees when they need us most,” Julie Ward, MyMichigan Health senior vice president and chief human resources officer, said in the release. “This new offering is just part of our commitment to enhancing the workplace by providing comprehensive benefits that support our employees’ well-being and financial health. It also reinforces MyMichigan’s dedication to be an employer of choice.”

According to the release, the Earned Wage Access program offers advantages to employees by providing financial flexibility and helping employees manage day-to-day needs and emergencies. MyMichigan Health states that early wage access also encourages employees to take on additional shifts and enhances job satisfaction and retention. The service is available at no cost to employees with a standard one-to-three-day ACH transfer. Those opting for same-day fund access will incur a nominal fee.

“The process for our employees will be simple. The product requires no changes to payroll operations or timekeeping. And, our employees can easily opt-in by downloading the Rain app or accessing it via the website, where they can view earnings, transaction history, and initiate fund transfers,” Ward said in the release. “We believe this will be well received by our employees and we’re pleased to offer it to them.”
