Werner Holthaus

The Alcona County Sheriff’s Office along with Michigan State Police fire investigators investigated a suspicious house fire that occurred on South Coville Road in Mikado Township on Sept. 9, according to a Tuesday press release. After the investigation, the police report was submitted to the Alcona County Prosecutor.

Charges of second degree arson which is a 20-year felony, and malicious destruction of a building worth $20,000 or more, a 10-year felony, were authorized on Werner Holthaus, 62, of Mikado. On Monday, the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office along with the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team arrested Holthaus on those charges. Holthaus was arraigned in the 81st District Court and his bond was set at $250,000 Cash/Surety/10%. He remains lodged in the losco County Jail.
