Male arraigned, Wardlaw posts bond

ALPENA — Maple Ridge Township Supervisor John Male, 72, was arraigned in the 88th District Court in Alpena on Tuesday on charges of operating while intoxicated, open intoxicants in vehicle, disorderly person drunk and causing a public disturbance, and trespassing.
A person found guilty of being a disorderly person is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or a fine of not more than $500, or both.
A person found guilty of trespassing is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 30 days or by a fine of not more than $250, or both
Defense Counsel David Funk pleaded not guilty on all counts on his behalf.
Male’s next court appearance is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 for a pre-trial hearing. He is also scheduled for a status conference at 10 a.m. on Dec. 16.
Troy Wardlaw, 56, appeared in the 88th District Court in Alpena for a probable cause conference with Attorney Bill Pfeifer representing him. Wardlaw is charged with possession with intent to deliver 50 to 450 grams of cocaine.
Wardlaw allegedly possessed 425 grams of crack cocaine and over $2,000 cash when he was arrested. That amount, 425 grams, is approximately one pound of cocaine. Wardlaw was given a $50,000 cash or surety bond. If found guilty, Wardlaw could face imprisonment for not more than 20 years or a fine of not more than $250,000, or both. Prosecuting Attorney Cynthia Muszynski said at his arraignment that allegedly Wardlaw has made a lot of money off the addicts in the community.
Wardlaw posted bond and was released from jail on Oct. 6. He is scheduled for a preliminary examination at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
