Beginning Monday, the intersection of Long Rapids Road and Bolton Road will be closed for work on the Long Rapids Road Bridge project. This portion of the project should take about a week, according to a press release from the Alpena County Road Commission. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour signs.

The work consists of removing the existing HMA (hot mix asphalt) surface and then removing and replacing the underlying aggregate base course.

Once this portion of the work is done, the intersection will be reopened with a gravel surface, and caution is advised.

Future closures will be announced as the project continues. Grand River Construction, Inc. is the general contractor on the project.
