Alpena street closures Monday

The City of Alpena’s contractors and Department of Public Works will be performing several maintenance projects on Monday to coincide with the Alpena Public Schools in-service day. The following streets will be closed for utility repairs and street maintenance.

– Bagley Street between the south driveway of Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union and 3rd Avenue – Detour from Washington Avenue to Ripley Boulevard to Grant Street.

– 3rd/Bagley/Hobbs Intersection – Detour from Washington Avenue to Ripley Boulevard to Grant Street. Areas needing to access west of the intersection will be limited to one lane and exit the construction via Franklin Street to Old Washington or 1st Avenue, depending upon your destination. Areas located adjacent to Hobbs Drive between 3rd and Grant will need to follow the Grant Street to Ripley Boulevard to Washington Avenue detour route.

– 3rd Avenue between North and Sheridan – Due to the traffic volumes and no through access at the 3rd/Bagley/Hobbs intersection, a detour shall be from Ripley Boulevard to Washington Avenue or Ripley Boulevard to Grant Street, depending upon your destination.

– 4th Avenue between Blair Street and Baldwin – Detour shall be from Blair to 3rd to Baldwin.

Signage and barricades will be present to guide traffic around the closure, but motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

This closure is expected to last one day unless weather or construction delays occur.
